Let’s talk flowers.. It is indeed a treat to be sitting down after a weekend full of weddings. It can get quite physical! With Sundays weddings becoming quite a norm nowadays, my weekend marathon is becoming an ultramarathon, so Mondays are my new Sundays…bar the fact that it’s still an early rise due to Dutch markets flower order for the following weekend!!
But I digress. I wanted to talk to you about the fashion, choice and trends of bridal bouquets this year. Both style and size vary hugely from one extreme to the other – big & wild to small & structured. There is no secret that I am a huge fan of foliage and textural blooms, with a huge emphasis in using seasonal blooms and locally foraged greens as much as possible. I suppose I’m extremely lucky, being married to a garden designer, being rather spoiled with a huge array of unusual flowers and exotic foliage. Seemingly a very small detail, they add a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to my designs… so I’ve been told.
But less talking and more showing!! Here’s a selection of the bridal bouquets designed/created by Austen Flowers this year.. And if you’re getting married and might want to ‘talk flowers’ I’d love to meet you.
